Removing the AC Duct Chase |
There are inevitable times that one has to remove the work that the other one just did, such as when the HVAC guys took down all the electronic cabling and electrical stuff that was put up last week. This was necessary because the HVAC design underwent a major change earlier this week to improve comfort in the different parts of the house.
What had been one duct had to be exposed (more demolition) before they could get in to do their thing and shrink it from 1968 standards to those required today. The good thing – the huge duct chase along the side of the den would be smaller and wouldn’t hang as low. The bad thing – it would have a twin on the other side of the room to carry part of the load.
Oh, and dumpsters being in short supply, the debris is simply going out in the yard until it returns next Tuesday, when “the crew” will get to pick it all up and package it for removal.

The HVAC guys showed up with custom duct work made to exactly fit in specific places to transport the air around the house. That seemed to go pretty well, with the exception of one piece that was about an inch and a half too short. Everyone wants them to finish today, though, so there’ll be AC functioning in the house.
